Privacy Policy
Who we are
MINDGRID is a number-logic puzzle game for Android made by MakeLabs ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game handles and why. For any privacy question or request, email support@makelabs.io.
The short version
- You can play without an account. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Your progress, statistics and settings stay on your phone.
- The global leaderboard is optional. Nothing is uploaded to us unless you choose to join it, and you can leave at any time, which deletes your entry from our server.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some device data to serve and measure those ads, as described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information stored only on your device
The game saves the following on your phone so you can pick up where you left off. It is not sent to us.
- Game progress: levels reached, scores, hint tokens, streaks and achievements.
- Statistics such as puzzles solved, accuracy and best times.
- Settings such as sound, haptics and theme.
- Whether you have bought Remove Ads.
- If you join the leaderboard: your nickname, chosen country and a random player ID generated by the app.
You can erase your progress with Settings > Reset progress. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, removes all of it.
The global leaderboard (optional)
If you tap Join on the leaderboard, the app sends the following to our leaderboard server:
- A random player ID created on your phone. It is not linked to your Google account, device identifiers or advertising ID.
- The nickname you choose (up to 16 characters).
- The country flag you choose, or none. It is only ever a suggestion taken from your phone's region setting; we do not look up your location.
- Your best scores and game statistics: Classic score, level, puzzles solved, streak and accuracy; Memory score and rounds; Time Attack score.
- Daily Challenge results: the day, your score, solve time and number of mistakes.
Your nickname, flag and scores are shown publicly to other MINDGRID players. Please do not use your real name or anything that identifies you as a nickname.
We use this information only to run the leaderboard. We keep it until you leave the leaderboard. Settings > Leave leaderboard permanently deletes your entry and all your Daily Challenge results from the server straight away. If you can no longer use the app (for example, you uninstalled it before leaving), email us and we will delete them.
The leaderboard is hosted by our service provider Convex, Inc., whose servers may be in the United States. Like any web service, it receives your IP address when the app connects; we do not store it with your leaderboard entry or use it to locate you.
Advertising
The free version of MINDGRID shows ads through Google AdMob: full-screen ads at natural breaks between games, and optional reward videos you can choose to watch for a hint. Ads never appear in the middle of a puzzle.
To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares with Google information such as your device's advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and app information, how you interact with ads, and diagnostics. Google's use of this data is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent using Google's consent form before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices.
On any Android phone you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings under Google > Ads (the exact menu depends on your phone).
Purchases
Remove Ads is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Google handles the payment and your payment details; we never see them. The app only records whether you own Remove Ads so it can switch ads off, and asks Google Play to confirm it when the app starts.
Children
MINDGRID is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has joined the leaderboard, email us and we will delete the entry.
Your rights
Depending on where you live - including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, in Europe and the UK, the GDPR - you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority.
Most of these you can do yourself in the app: change your nickname or flag by tapping your leaderboard entry in Settings, delete it with Leave leaderboard, and change ad consent with Ad privacy choices. For anything else, email support@makelabs.io. We will reply within 30 days. Because we do not know who you are, we may ask for your nickname so we can find your entry.
Security
The app talks to the leaderboard only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and we collect as little as the game needs. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we change how MINDGRID handles information, we will update this policy and the date below, and for significant changes let you know in the app.
